Before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches worldwide on November 10, 2023, players will have the chance to check the game out in an open beta. The Modern Warfare 3 open beta is set to go live for everyone on all platforms; here’s how to get into it.
How to get Modern Warfare 3 open beta early access
You don’t have to spend any money whatsoever if you want to enjoy the MW3 open beta. It is an open beta, after all. Everyone on all platforms — PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC — will be able to check out the beta at the same time. You don’t need a pre-order or anything for that; just download the open beta when it goes live.
However, like with Modern Warfare 2 in 2022, there is an early access period in which only certain players will be able to check the game out. If you want to ensure you have more than a weekend or a couple of days to play the Modern Warfare 3 open beta early, you’ll want to get beta early access by pre-ordering the game before the beta arrives. There are three versions of the game you can pre-order, all of which come with early access to the open beta.
- Standard Edition (PC)
- Cross-Gen Bundle (PlayStation and Xbox)
- Vault Edition (All platforms)
If you pre-order any of those versions, you’re automatically in for early access. What’s unique this year is you don’t need a beta code. So long as you pre-order digitally, you’ll automatically have access to the open beta for download when early access begins.
However, there will be opportunities to get early access beta codes. For one, if you pre-order physically, you’ll get a code to access the beta, which you can redeem on the Call of Duty website. Other codes will be given out to players who don’t pre-order for early access, but details on that will be revealed in the future.
Modern Warfare 3 open beta dates, explained
At this time, the open beta dates have not been revealed for Modern Warfare 3. That said, reputable leaker Tom Henderson stated the beta would take place across two separate weekends, similar to past years. Those potential beta weekends are:
- October 6-10, 2023 (PS4/PS5 only)
- October 12-16, 2023 (All platforms, with a couple of days of early access)
Take those dates with a grain of salt, as plans can certainly change, but Henderson also correctly leaked the launch dates and campaign early access dates for Modern Warfare 3 in the same post.
