Depending on your choices through Baldur’s Gate 3, Counselor Florrick may have followed you throughout the game. She’s a helpful ally for the coming battle. But you might need to bust her out of jail first.
Florrick is a character you can help save early on in Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3, from a burning building on the Risen Road. If you help bust down the door and get Florrick out, and keep her alive through ensuing events, she’ll return in Act 3—albeit, behind bars. (Mild story spoilers to follow.)
If you talk to the Duke Ravengard, even after being tadpoled, he’ll inform you that Florrick has been put in the dungeons. (You can also learn about this from ambient info around the town, if you’re ducking Gortash’s invitation to his coronation.)
Where to find Counselor Florrick
Florrick is located pretty close to where Gortash hosts his coronation, in the Wyrm Rock Prison. It’s on the left-hand side as you enter from Rivington, heading into the Lower City.
While the front door is an option, and the one we wound up using, it’s worth noting there are some other options, especially if you’re not friendly with the guards. A secret door inside the hall, under where Gortash’s coronation ceremony is held, opens an alternate path.
And if you can squeeze through a pipe, you can head in through the water pipes as well.
Whichever way gets you in, you’ll have to deal with the guards. You can either stealth around them, or if you’re on good terms with Gortash, you can walk right by. We had accepted his request to parlay and told him we’d consider his deal, which earned us enough goodwill to waltz around. You’ll still need to do some light pickpocketing though, especially if your lockpicking skills are low. You’ll need entrance into the prison, as well as the key to Florrick’s cell from the guards if you can’t lockpick it. If your own PC can’t cut it, I recommend bringing Astarion along.
How to rescue Counselor Florrick in Baldur’s Gate 3
Once you find Florrick’s cell in the back, you’ll need to pass a dialogue check to convince her she should help the city. It’s a low roll, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble, and some Guidance or other assistance can save you from anything but a natural 1.
After convincing her to help, you’ll need to break her out. This can go a lot of ways; you can take out the guards, incapacitate them, try to stealth around them, and use different entrances and exits you’ve found (as outlined above).
My suggestion is to embrace the power of role-playing and come up with the strangest solution. Going invisible does seem to work, so if you use an invisibility spell or scroll on Florrick, that should make this a cakewalk. I personally tried to Polymorph Florrick and walk her out as an animal; it did not work as intended, but it did set the game in a state where it thought I had succeeded.
However you do it, getting Florrick out saves not just one person, but nets you some more support for the Gather Your Allies quest.
