Best Wanderer (Scaramouche) Builds, Weapons, and Teams in Genshin Impact

Scaramouche in Genshin Impact

Wanderer is a 5-star Anemo Catalyst DPS in Genshin Impact. This guide will cover Wanderer’s best weapons, artifacts, and teams to help your Wanderer soar.

Playstyles

Wanderer’s kit is built around his role as an on-field DPS. This means that you will set up your other characters’ abilities, then swap to Wanderer, use Wanderer’s Skill, and do a Normal or Charged Attack combo.

In general, the combo for optimal DPS is to simply spam Charged Attacks. However, since his Charged Attacks can stagger enemies, this can sometimes end up ungrouping them, making it difficult to deal damage to multiple enemies at once. Certain buffs will change his optimal combo, with buffs for Normal Attacks encouraging Normal Attack spam and buffs to both Normal and Charged Attacks encouraging a mixed combo.

You can choose to use Wanderer’s Burst either before his Skill or after his full combo. Note that Constellation 2 and some artifact sets incentivize using his Burst at the end of his combo.

Weapons

Wanderer has many weapons available to him in Genshin Impact. The suggestions below are not necessarily ranked, and your best weapon will depend on the rest of your gear and your team.

Tulaytullah’s Remembrance – Wanderer’s best weapon and his signature, though the margin between this Catalyst and the other entries on this list is smaller than with other 5-star characters and their signatures. If equipping this, you should spam Normal Attacks during your combo.

Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds – Wanderer makes good use of this weapon’s passive, and the movement speed buff makes this my personal favorite for zooming around in the overworld.

Skyward Atlas, Memory of Dust, or Kagura’s Verity – These are good 5-star stat sticks, though Memory of Dust requires a shielder to take advantage of.

The Widsith, Solar Pearl, or Dodoco Tales – These 4-star options still perform admirably, with Widsith outperforming some 5-stars under certain conditions. Solar Pearl will want you to use a Normal Attack spam combo while Dodoco Tales will prefer a mixed combo.

Artifacts

4pc Desert Pavilion Chronicle (4DPC) – This set synergizes perfectly with Wanderer’s unique kit. When equipping this, you should begin your combo with a Charged Attack.

4pc Shimenawa’s Reminiscence (4SR) – This set requires you to Burst at the end of your combo. It also makes his Energy Recharge requirements prohibitively high if you want to Burst every rotation, so most 4SR Wanderers end up Bursting every other rotation.

2pc ATK / 2pc Anemo DMG combos – Mixing 2pc sets with 18% ATK and and 15% Anemo DMG is a perfectly viable option. It won’t result in as much damage as the 4pc sets above, but if you don’t want to farm for a full 4pc set, then there’s no shame in settling for a 2pc/2pc combo. You can also combine a 2pc ATK set with another 2pc ATK set if you don’t have any spare Desert Pavilion Chronicle or Viridescent Venerer pieces.

4pc Viridescent Venerer (4VV) – Wanderer is an Anemo unit, which means he can equip 4VV. He won’t do as much personal DPS, but he will enhance his off-field teammates with Swirl-able elements. This overall increase in team damage can sometimes be enough to make this his best set if you have multiple off-field DPS teammates.

Artifact Stats

Wanderer is built with typical DPS stats for Genshin Impact, prioritizing CRIT and ATK where possible.

Sands Goblet Circlet
ATK Anemo DMG CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG

In general, Wanderer can ignore Energy Recharge. Since most of his damage comes from his Normal and Charged Attacks, it’s not the end of the world if he can’t Burst on occasion. For most builds, leaving him at 100-130% ER is fine.

If you do want to Burst every rotation, then you will want about 145% ER, as long as you have Faruzan and/or a Favonius weapon.

Teams

Anemo Hypercarry

Hypercarry teams stack buffs onto one unit who does the majority of the team’s damage. Wanderer can fill the hypercarry role nicely in Genshin Impact. This team is made up of:

Faruzan – Wanderer’s best support. Equip her with Favonius Warbow and as much Energy Recharge as possible.

Bennett – Buffs Wanderer’s ATK and allows him to consistently activate the Pyro buff with his Ascension 1 passive.

Flex – You have multiple options for the last slot. Zhongli or another shielder will allow you to perform your combos uninterrupted. Alternatively, you can have another buffer like Yun Jin, though Yun Jin encourages spamming Normal Attacks rather than Charged Attacks. Having a second Anemo unit like Venti, Kazuha, or Jean will allow them to capitalize on Faruzan’s buffs too. You can even have an off-field DPS unit like Xingqiu, Fischl, or Xiangling for some extra damage.

Anemo Driver

Wanderer as a driver still spends time on-field and does considerable damage, but the team’s overall damage will be split more amongst your teammates. In these teams, the focus is not on Wanderer’s personal damage, but on stacking damage from multiple sources. You should consider 4pc Viridescent Venerer on Wanderer if you want to run these teams. Teammates are quite flexible, and you can generally mix and match from the following options:

Fischl – Fischl is a great off-field Electro DPS. You can combine her with Beidou for even more Electro damage as well as a shield. Running Beidou without Fischl is not recommended due to Beidou’s high Energy needs.

Xiangling and Bennett – Xiangling should always be run with Bennett to help provide Energy for her. She is a potent off-field Pyro DPS, and her Pyronado stays on the ground to damage enemies even when Wanderer flies in the air.

Xingqiu or Yelan – Both are great off-field Hydro DPS units. You can run both together or separately. Xingqiu with Fischl and Beidou in particular make for a great Electro-Charged core, allowing you to stack the defensive utilities from both Xingqiu and Beidou.

Venti or Kazuha – An additional Anemo teammate helps with Wanderer’s Energy needs while contributing some damage. Most importantly though, they provide grouping so that Wanderer can hit multiple enemies at once.

Defensive Flex – Add a healer or shielder of your choice if you need one. Shields help you perform your combos without interruption.
