There are very few critiques I can give for Baldur’s Gate 3, but one of them would be a lack of regular auto-saves. Thankfully, you can quick save in Baldur’s Gate 3 at any time. You can find the binding and select whatever key or button you’d like. Here’s how to quick save in Baldur’s Gate 3, and then quick load.
Which key is it to use quick save in Baldur’s Gate 3?
If you’ve played through Baldur’s Gate 3‘s lengthy campaign and had no idea that quick saving was a feature, I wouldn’t be surprised. It’s buried amongst the key bindings menu and isn’t taught to you at the beginning of the game. To find the binding for quick save, pause the game and select “Options.” Next, go to the “Keybinds” tab. After that, scroll near to the bottom and you should notice the Quick Save and Quick Load options nearby Pin Tooltip, Reactions, and Shove. The default setting is F5 for Quick Save and F8 for Quick Load. You can change it to your liking.
Once you press F5 while in a battle or in the middle of a field, it will immediately quick save in Baldur’s Gate 3. You should do this before an important conversation or after beating a tough section of a battle. For instance, you could quick save straight after killing Dror Ragzlin and then leave yourself a safe load in case you die from his minions.
How to quick load
To quick load, press F8 and the game will instantly load up your most recent save. It’s quite scary as it doesn’t give you a warning. Make sure the key binding for quick load is somewhere your fingers can’t accidentally press.
