How to kill Nightwarden Minthara in Baldur’s Gate 3 – BG3 Nightwarden Minthara Boss Fight Guide

She’s certainly a toughie.

Minthara Baldur's Gate 3

The Nightwarden Minthara boss in Baldur’s Gate 3 is arguably the trickiest in this goblin dungeon. She can immobilize a party member straight away and cause big issues for you. It is quite possible to defeat her, however.

Here’s how to kill the Nightwarden Minthara boss in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to take out Nightwarden Minthara

Before starting the fight, try to eliminate the Scrying Eye that’s floating around the area. Use a Sneak Attack from Astarion or another party member to get rid of it quickly. It will call enemy reinforcements if left to its own devices.

Nightwarden Minthara is difficult to take out of the equation. She has a massive 52HP and can trap one character in stasis with the Hold Person spell. When she inflicts this on a party member, she and her minions land a Critical Hit every time. My wizard-class Gale was taken down in just one move after they froze.

There unfortunately isn’t a great way to counter this. Minthara uses Hold Person almost immediately, and there isn’t a potion that reverses it. The only thing you can do is break their concentration. Try to hit her with your best attacks to stop the spell from occurring.

Her minions are also difficult to manage as they can spew acid at you, lowering your Armour Class by 2. They’ll also throw rocks at you. In my playthrough, they took out 4HP, but depending on your defensive stats, it may be different. With lower numbers, due to Hold Person, try to use Tasha’s Hideous Laughter (or a similar stunning move) on a minion to keep the enemy numbers low. It likely won’t work on Minthara, as it only had a 15% success rate during my playtime. Something else of note is that there’s a war drum on the top left. Remove it before a foe can call reinforcements.

You should also know that Nightwarden Minthara can heal a great amount (around 20-30 HP), so try to eliminate her quickly with the best moves you have. You can also try to daze your opponent with a Concussive Smash from Shadowheart, which helped me greatly in the battle. Shadowheart also has a powerful move called Inflict Wounds, which in my playthrough, takes between 3-30 HP from your foe. Utilize Lae’zel’s powerful Disarming Attack too.

What does she drop?

If you keep wailing on her with attacks and reliably keep everyone in the party healed up, you should be able to defeat Minthara. Just be patient. She will drop Spidersilk Armour, which gives +1 to your stealth checks. Give that to your stealthy vampire Astarion. She also has the Spider’s Lyre, which would work well for a Bard sub-class and is a great tool for when you start Act 2. Don’t sell it (like me). Keep it handy.

Another thing to mention

Nightwarden Minthara can actually be a companion if you make the right choices like siding with another group than the Tieflings. If she’s still alive in Act 2, you can actually save her in Moonrise Towers. She’ll then join your party later on.
