Silver Ore is a fundamental resource in Diablo 4. If you’re upgrading virtually any piece of equipment at the Blacksmith, you’ll blow through stacks of these easily. And since Diablo 4 is all about upgrading equipment and making numbers go higher, you’ll want plenty of Iron Ore in your pockets.
The best way to farm Silver Ore is by salvaging gear. Magic (blue) equipment or rarer has a chance to drop Silver Ore upon salvage, as long as its metallic. For example, maces and swords will yield ore while boots will yield leather. Nearly every activity in Diablo 4 drops an abundance of loot, so if you remember to salvage, you should come out well-stocked.
Personally, I’ve never encountered a shortage of Silver Ore simply by salvaging Rare (yellow) equipment that I don’t want. You theoretically can try to farm for Silver Ore by searching the open world for Ore Vein deposits. However, with Renown to max out and World Bosses to fight, you’ll streamline your progression by prioritizing more important tasks.
Should you save or spend silver ore in Diablo 4?
When you’re just starting out, you can get away with saving your silver ore. You’ll level up and find gear at such a rapid rate that it’s honestly not worth the investment. However, if you start struggling to stay alive, start putting in some basic upgrades to your best equipment. By around level 30, as long as you’ve been salvaging, you should have enough resources to keep pace with basic upgrades. Legendary (orange) gear is rare in the early game, so if you find some loot you really like, definitely invest in it!
Later on, you’ll want to watch out for higher-level upgrades that require relatively precious materials. However, you should find yourself naturally collecting enough Silver Ore to throw at least a few upgrades on anything you wear. In other words, don’t be shy about visiting the Blacksmith!
