The new Elden Ring update tweaks several bosses

Elden Ring boss update

Spoiler names below, but no story specifics

So I’m still erring on the side of caution here with Elden Ring. Odds are you’ve seen the “Let Me Solo Her” story floating around the community, but maybe you don’t know some of the specifics and intend to play the game completely blind. If you’re still doing that, avoid the below story on the new Elden Ring boss update!

Straight from Bandai Namco’s website, there are some new patch notes to acclimate to, which the publisher is calling version “1.04.1” at the moment:

  • Fixed a bug in which the effect duration of the Cerulean Hidden Tear was revised downward.
  • Fixed a bug with Malenia, Blade of Miquella in which her HP was not healed correctly in the online multiplayer environment.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some bosses to die at unintended times.
    • Fixed a bug that prevented the boss “Elden Beast” from working properly under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed some texts.

The first one is relatively minor but needed fixing anyway. The Cerulean Hidden Tear getting “revised downward” was actually a nerf. The effect of the item is “eliminates all FP consumption [for 15 seconds],” and it was “revised downward” to seven seconds. It’s reverted now, in theory.

The “big two” and the Elden Ring boss update portions are Malenia and Elden Beast. For the former, a recent patch actually made this infamous boss tougher, as she could heal even if she didn’t hit you with her attacks (this is what “HP was not healed correctly” means) — but only when playing with other players. The latter has been bugged in some conditions for many players, including freezing bouts: which should also be fixed.

Hopefully future patches will sidestep having to fix bugs from prior patches going forward. Take your time.
