The Suikoden successor will have more to share soon
While we already got a little bit of Eiyuden Chronicle earlier this year with the prequel game Rising, there are still the Hundred Heroes on the horizon. Rabbit & Bear Studios put out a new Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes trailer today, as part of Gamescom, and the RPG still looks fantastic.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is the Kickstarter-backed successor to the Suikoden series, from members of the original Suikoden team. While we’ve seen some small slices of gameplay, we get a bit more in today’s trailer.
It’s impressive how this does manage to look HD-2D, but still has a distinct style of it. The world of Hundred Heroes looks gorgeous, and I’m particularly keen on the battle animations. The camera pans and zooms are great, and I love seeing the big party lineup all on one screen.
An untold future
While we still haven’t glimpsed any footage that contains straight-up fights with a UI and everything, hopefully we’ll get some more soon. At the end of today’s trailer, Rabbit & Bear confirms that more news is scheduled for Tokyo Game Show. TGS 2022 runs from September 15 through 18, just a few weeks from now.
The prequel action RPG Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising already left a good impression on those who played it. You can even spot a party member from Rising, a certain sword-wielding kangaroo, in the battle at one point. And a shark fighter too? Looks like we’ll get some wild characters to recruit into our massive party.
Everything we’ve seen so far of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes looks quite promising. Here’s hoping the studio can deliver. Last time we heard about an estimated launch, the RPG was pushed into 2023. We’ll see if we get a firm launch, or maybe even some more game info, at Tokyo Game Show in September.
