MultiVersus confirms Black Adam and Stripe, while dataminers uncover further characters

SHOWTIME!

MultiVersus season one is now officially underway, and over the coming weeks, a steady drop of brand new content will go live in Warner Bros.’ super-popular platform brawler. And, as leaked by the Xbox dash yesterday, two new characters joining the star-studded roster are DC Comics anti-hero Black Adam, and the mischievous-to-the-point-of-deadly gremlin, Stripe.

As is the modus operandi of sneaky PC types, dataminers wasted zero time digging into the files of MultiVersus‘ season one update — hoping to find any and all evidence of some unannounced DLC characters. And it seems that their search was a smashing success, after the discovery of a huge batch of voice lines spouted by the irrepressible Beetlejuice, the unpredictable and darkly witty “bio-exorcist” from Tim Burton’s classic 1988 horror comedy. (The Beetlejuice audio was posted to Twitter by dataminer @AisulMV but has since been taken down by a copyright claim.)

And as if the early reveal of The Ghost with The Most wasn’t enough, several of Beetlejuice’s voicelines also appear to reference another movie legend: The Wicked Witch of The West from MGM’s 1939 masterpiece The Wizard of Oz. More than a fistful of Beetlejuice’s leaked dialogue reference elements such as the Yellow Brick Road, a “green-skinned angel,” flying monkeys, and the classic “I’M MELLLLTING!!” line. Following these initial discoveries, AisulMV then unearthed announcer lines for the Wicked Witch herself, along with additional dialogue for the previously confirmed Rick & Morty.

I gotta admit, while I was hoping that Player First Games would really mine deep into the WB archives for characters, I wasn’t expecting anybody from the Wonderful World of Oz. Now we just need Fairuza Balk’s Dorothy, a Wheelie, and the terrifying Princess Mombi and we got ourselves a roster.

MultiVersus season one is now live on all platforms. The next character, Morty, will launch August 23, with Arcade Mode and Ranked Mode to follow soon thereafter. MultiVersus is now in its open beta status and is available to download on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox platforms.
